Significant momentum is present with LeTourneau University’s aviation program. As the only comprehensive, university-level aviation program in Texas continues to grow, the need for expanded facilities is certainly felt.
16 years post the unveiling of the Paul & Betty Abbott Aviation Center, LeTourneau’s aviation program continues to sky rocket in numbers- so much so, the facility is brimming with more future pilots and aircraft mechanics than it can functionally hold.
Last fall, LeTourneau family and friends, alumni, faculty and staff, and fellow Longview community peers joined together to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Abbott Aviation Expansion project. The expansion of the Aviation Center is on the significant capital projects of the Build with Purpose campaign that publicly launched Fall 2024.
With recent full approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), expansion work is moving ahead to continue the project so that LeTourneau University can continue to grow and thrive while also fully serving and supporting its students.
"The growth we are experiencing in aviation is not something we take for granted — we see it as God opening doors for the next generation of aviators, pilots, and aircraft maintenance technicians. The Abbott Aviation Center expansion allows us to meet that growth with the facilities and resources our students deserve. As the only comprehensive, university-level aviation program in Texas, we take seriously our responsibility to prepare graduates who are skilled, safety-minded, and rooted in faith. I'd encourage anyone who feels called to aviation to come see what LeTourneau has to offer."

Growing With Purpose
The Engineering and Aviation Preview day happening on March 28th, 2025 has over 150 signed up for the event. LeTourneau University’s continued growth reflects the mission of God and the great ways that God is using our university in the world.
For aviation, He is building up aviators, pilots, aircraft technicians, etc. and LeTourneau is a crucial part in our students’ journey’s. We continue to be grateful for the growth of aviation students and how God has paved the way for our building expansions to reflect the growth our student population.
Prospective students and families can get a firsthand look at what that experience looks like at LeTourneau's Engineering and Aviation Preview, where they will have the opportunity to explore facilities, meet faculty, and discover what sets a LeTourneau aviation education apart.
