Bio
I joined the full-time School of Nursing faculty in 2022 after several years of nursing and nurse education experience. Most recently, I served as a Workforce Development Professional Educator at Christus Good Shepherd Health System, following seven years working in critical care as a bedside nurse. In addition to my position at the hospital, I also worked in an adjunct capacity for LeTourneau for three years, serving as a clinical assistant, providing instruction in a clinical setting, and as a teaching assistant for the pre-nursing, foundations, and behavioral health courses.
I can remember sitting in the middle of a doctor's office and very confidently saying, 'I could never be a nurse.' I can remember sitting in the middle of a classroom and very confidently saying, 'I could never be a teacher.' Fast forward about 15 years, and I now have the opportunity, the privilege, to teach nursing! Sometimes, in the moment, we do not see God's perfect plan taking place. Looking back, he must have laughed when I said, 'I could never.'
Leaving the bedside was a hard decision to make because I loved caring for my patients. However, I now have the opportunity to pour into others and share that same passion for nursing. I have the best of both worlds. As a nurse, I have the privilege of being the hands and feet of the Lord. It is my prayer to instill this same practice in others.
