Founded in 2022, LetSpace is a student-organized rocketry group, dedicated to expanding rocketry at LeTourneau and using their work as a platform to promote Christians in engineering. After just two years, their group has already seen incredible success. In a launch in Fall 2023, they were able to successfully maintain live telemetry with their test rocket for the entirety of its flight. They have created and tested our own homemade motors, and have developed fully-functioning in-flight computers from scratch to be used in their rockets. They are currently working on their largest project yet: designing, constructing, and launching a rocket fast enough to break the speed of sound, and they plan to launch in spring 2025 at the Friends of Amateur Rocketry (FAR) in California. This launch is the next step in their group’s long-term goal build a spaceshot, or a rocket that is capable of flying 100 kilometers above sea-level (the official definition of outer space). Despite the scale of the project, LetSpace has intentionally made space for new students to join in, providing engineering and teamwork experience they wouldn’t otherwise have. Many new students are fascinated by the rare opportunity to work on such projects as underclassmen. LetSpace seeks to honor God by making even student work a mission field. They would be honored if you would join them on their mission to shoot for the stars.
