- FAFSA Overview
- Verification Process
The Free Application For Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, is the tool families use to qualify for any type of federal funding to assist with college/university tuition and fees.
The FAFSA is open to being filed during a student's senior year. You will want to file for the upcoming school year.
At LeTourneau University, we highly recommend that students file FAFSA in order to qualify for all possible student financial aid.

When filing a FAFSA, why should I consent to using the Direct Data Exchange or DDX?
- It's Easy: You don't manually fill in information from your paper tax return when you complete the FAFSA.
- It's Fast: With a couple of clicks and verification of identity, your tax information will automatically be transferred to your FAFSA.
- It's Accurate: By using the DDX, you are ensuring that the Financial Aid office is receiving your most accurate tax information.
- It Streamlines the verification process: For student applicants and parents that are selected for verification, the use of the DDX for your tax information to update the FAFSA application electronically is the most efficient way to provide tax information.

At least 30 percent of all FAFSA applications filed are selected for verification.
Verification is a process by which the university reviews the reported information on the FAFSA if it is selected by the Department of Education. Selection for verification does not imply that you have made an error or made false statements.
If you are selected for verification, you will be notified through your LeTourneau email account and asked to provide documentation to support the information that you reported. You will be able to see what documents are required (in an awaiting status) in MyLETU at https://my.letu.edu/ics under the Financial Aid tab in Document Tracking.
ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE RECEIVED BY OUR OFFICE BY AUGUST 1ST.
