SCHEDULE:

This is a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track position with rank negotiable based on experience. Classes and other responsibilities are conducted primarily on weekdays but may include occasional evening or weekend responsibilities. Attendance is required at typical faculty and administrative meetings including graduation.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

LeTourneau University is seeking an exceptional educator with a strong Christian faith to teach and serve within the Department of Flight Science, teaching lecture-based courses as well as supporting flight instruction

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach the next generation of Christian aviation professionals
  • Prepare course materials and assessments
  • Maintain an understanding of current technologies applicable to the courses being taught
  • Provide leadership in the development and improvement of the courses
  • Serve as an academic advisor to aviation students
  • Actively pursue relationships with students, faculty, and staff encouraging the accomplishment of the purpose and mission of LeTourneau University and the College of Aviation and Aeronautical Science
  • Participate in activities related to a faculty position
QUALIFICATIONS:

LeTourneau University operates a flight training program as part of its Aeronautical Science Bachelor’s Program under CFR part 141 and 61. Minimum qualifications include:

  • B.S. degree in aviation (Master’s is required within 4 years of employment)
  • Commercial pilot - airplane single engine and multiengine land
  • Instrument rating - airplane
  • Certificated Flight or Ground Instructor - Advanced and instrument
  • Ability to work effectively in a team relationship within the community of LeTourneau University

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in an aviation field
  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
  • Significant tailwheel flight experience
  • Certificated Flight Instructor - airplane and instrument in single and multiengine
  • 121/135 experience
  • Crew Resource Management or Aviation Human Factors experience and training
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic certificate
