POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Purpose:

Provide Human Resources support to the Human Resources and Payroll departments, coordinating new hire orientation and benefits. Promoting the University’s Christian vision of reaching every workplace in every nation for Christ. 

Essential Job Functions:

General Duties:

Understand University policies/procedures and federal/state regulations applicable to the position. Use policy knowledge when performing related work.

  • This position is responsible for the staff new hire process for the University which may include:
    • Processing open position paperwork from using departments.
    • Posting and advertising positions on multiple sites
    • Managing the application processes.
    • Dispersing applications to the various using departments.
    • Answering applicant questions and assisting with the application software.
    • Coordinating background checks.
    • Onboarding new employees through orientation.
    • Coordinating required paperwork.
    • Tracking and follow through with employee benefit providers.
  •  Keep the HR Director informed on all matters. Provide back-up in the absence of the HR Generalist.
  • Assist with benefits and enrollment program: Scanning and maintaining employee files to include benefits information, processing all change, and paying paperwork, responding to employee benefits questions, and resolving claims issues.
  • Assist with management of electronic forms, communicate with university personnel regarding HR electronic form procedures.
  • Perform routine clerical tasks such as mail, filing, scanning, copying, faxing, data entry, responding to phone calls, email, and proofreading.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Applicant should be a proactive self-starter with strong organizational skills.  Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy required.
  • Strong technological competence with the ability to learn new programs/applications quickly.  MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat essential.
  • Initiative and ability to function without continual supervision. Basic mathematical skills plus the ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Have a good attendance record.
  • Associates Degree or an equivalent of knowledge and experience required. Experience:  Minimum of three years of clerical experience; work or volunteer experience involving contact with the public. Preference to a candidate with prior HR knowledge and expertise with the ability to be a team player.
