SCHEDULE: Office hours are primarily weekdays, but responsibilities require additional hours and flexibility, including evenings and weekends
POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Works closely with other members of the Network, Security, and Telecommunication Services team to serve the campus community and LETU’s strategic goals.
  • Serves as the primary cybersecurity representative for Network, Security, and Telecommunication Services.
  • Participates as active member of the Information Security Council
  • Assists in research, selection, purchase, deployment, configuration, maintenance, and daily operations of network equipment, servers, virtual servers, network storage, cloud services, and other assets involved in network and network security operations.
  • Assists in planning for the future of networking and network security at LETU.
  • Assists with LETU’s annual and ongoing cybersecurity training programs.
  • Assists in making sure LETU is compliant with industry best practices and government regulations regarding cybersecurity.
  • Develops, executes, and manages network and security-related projects using IT’s official project management solution.
  • Coordinates troubleshooting and other customer-requested tasks using IT’s official service request system.
  • Assists in day-to-day operations of Network, Security, and Telecommunication Services.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director for Network, Security, and Telecommunication Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, with a focus on cybersecurity, or equivalent industry experience in an appropriate position.
  • Strong customer service skills, including ability to proactively identify, communicate and follow-up on, take ownership of, and resolve tasks, support issues, and major projects.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to demonstrate excellent interaction with faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn additional technologies and acquire additional skill sets independently.
  • Preferred certifications: CCNA, CompTIA Security+
  • Experience with purchasing, configuration, and deployment of a wide variety of enterprise network and systems hardware including but not limited to routers, switches, firewalls, network appliances, storage and communication systems and integration with third party products.
  • Experience with network security troubleshooting.
  • Experience with CLI-based configuration interfaces.
  • Experience with PowerShell (Proficiency a plus).
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Linux-based operating systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Azure, Entra, Defender, and other Microsoft cloud services
  • Experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter
  • Experience with network storage, including HPE Alletra, and Synology RackStation
  • Experience with network hardware from Cisco, Meraki, Ubiquiti, and Fortinet
