SCHEDULE:

This is a part time position, typically averaging 25 hours per week. Office hours are primarily weekdays, but responsibilities may occasionally require additional hours and flexibility that can include evenings and weekends, particularly related to special events.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Administrative support for the Office of Spiritual Life, including but not limited to:

  • Conduct day-to-day financial procedures, such as check and reimbursement requests.
  • Check and maintain accurate budget reports for department.
  • Oversee budget reports, spending, and contributions for LeTourneau Student Ministries, including budgets and contributions for Spring Break Outreach and Summer Mission Trips.
  • Serve as purchasing agent and facilities work request contact person.
  • Act as liaison for performance groups and chapel speakers and presenters, making all arrangements for catering, transportation and lodging arrangements.
  • Coordinate Summer and Spring Break Mission trips.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise Spiritual Life student workers.
  • Manage chapel email, web information, and social media outlets.
  • Assist in reading and evaluating chapel make up papers.
  • Communicate with students regarding chapel deficiencies and make up progress, and with Registrar’s Office regarding students who remain chapel deficient after make-up deadline.

2. Coordination for the Office of Spiritual Life program for spiritual formation, including but not limited to:

  • Work closely with the Campus Pastor in the planning and execution of the university’s chapel program.
  • Coordinate with MIR and Campus Pastor for planning and execution of Mission Emphasis Week (also referred to as GO Week). Including but not limited to:
    • Attend all GO Week planning meetings
    • Act as primary contact person between mission agency representatives and LETU.
    • Arrange for housing of visitors when needed, connect mission agency representatives with faculty for classroom devotions, coordinate with catered meals.
    • Reserve all rooms for GO Week through university room reservation system.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and supervision, with the Campus Pastor, for Spiritual Life Assistants.
  • Work closely with the Campus Pastor in directing Life Groups, including but not limited to recruiting, resourcing, and scheduling Life Group leaders.
  • Interface with local pastors and churches in an effort to encourage student involvement off campus through such activities as the church fair and church directory.
  • Interface with local community and faith-based ministries in order to encourage student involvement, through the Longview Blitz and other community outreach activities.
  • Evaluate, for adequate reference and fit with the LeTourneau mission, outside organizations wanting to publicize or minister on campus.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and supervision, with the Campus Pastor, for LeTourneau Student Ministries.
  • Perform other duties pertinent to the position as assigned by the Campus Pastor.

3. Provide pastoral guidance for students, including but not limited to:

  • Assist in crisis intervention situations to offer support and follow-up with students, staff, faculty and families.
  • Meet with and mentor individual students for pastoral guidance.
  • Counsel students for guidance in vocational decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate for this position should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, with demonstrated experience and enthusiasm for youth and/or college age ministry. He or she will be able to affirm and articulate LETU’s statement of evangelical faith and our community standards as well as being committed to the global and historic church—including sharing life together with a local church. The candidate should possess a unique combination of administrative and pastoral skills. He or she will be team-oriented and proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook—some experience in web-design or marketing would be a plus.
