Biography:
Gene is Head of School at Wheaton Academy, a private Christian academy in West Chicago, Ill., He is an ordained minister who began his career as a youth pastor and Bible teacher in a Christian school, then spent 22 years in the business world. His diverse business experience includes being a pit trader on the Chicago Board of Options Exchange, a corporate trainer and a human resources executive. His last decade in business was spent as president and CEO of an educational mentoring and software company. He has been a leader in various non-profit and corporate boards. Gene earned his undergraduate degree in religious studies from Wheaton College, his divinity degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary and his doctorate in education from Northern Illinois University. He currently serves on his local church's planning committee, board, and as a Sunday school teacher. Over the years, Gene and his wife, Barbara, have been faithfully involved in their church, Evangelical Covenant Church.
Commitment to LETU:
Gene has been familiar with the ministry of R.G. LeTourneau throughout his life, having played high school basketball in the LeTourneau Gymnasium at Wheaton Academy. He believes strongly in the importance of a Christian education that aids a believer to grow in faith and into a lifetime of service and ministry. Gene's life has been devoted to Christian education. He brings experience in education, business, finance, insurance, ministry, fundraising and resource development to his role on the LETU Board of Trustees.
