The Solheim Recreation and Activity Center is LeTourneau University's hub for its 13 men's and women's NCAA Division III athletic teams as well as intramural sports.

Students may check out sports equipment from the equipment room free of charge, and they have full access to the Center which includes:

FITNESS CLASSES

Fall 2024 Fitness Class Schedule

Free fitness classes are available to all LETU students. Faculty, staff and guests may attend for a small fee. (Punch cards are available for purchase from the Solheim Center front desk: 1 class $3, 10 classes $30, 20 classes $50, 30 classes $70)

Available classes include (click link above for schedule):

  • Body Combat: High-energy, martial arts-inspired workout that is totally non-contact. Punch and kick your way to fitness all while having fun. No experience needed. Release stress, have a blast, and feel like a champ. Bring your best fighter attitude and leave inhibitions at the door.
  • Body Pump: the original barbell workout that will sculpt, tone, and strengthen your entire body, fast! Body Pump is one of the world's fastest ways to get in shape as it challenges all of your major muscle groups while you squat, press, lift, and curl.
  • Learn to Swing Dance: A class where you can come and learn 3 different styles of swing in the form of East Coast, Lindy Hop, and Charleston! We teach you how to combine the dances, so you can have fun swinging to the oldies, big band, and today's music! No partner required because we rotate so everyone dances with a partner. Please wear flat or tennis shoes. No heels, please! Class is from 6:30 - 7:30 pm with a Swing Dance Social immediately afterwards (7:30 - 8:30) to practice your skills.
  • Yoga Flow: A class where you will begin to integrate breath with purposeful movement in this beginner friendly yoga class. Gain strength and flexibility while stretching muscles as we move with mindfulness from one pose to another, creating a mind-body connection.
  • Refit: A cardio focused fitness format what combines powerful moves with fun, inspirational music. Come and get a good workout while being recharged from the inside out!
  • Pump & Shred: a combination of popular Les Mills Body Combat and Body Pump in a 45-minute total-body blast! The class consists of 20 minutes of Combat followed by 20 minutes of Pump and a 5-minute core and cool down.
  • Curcuit Bootcamp: a fun 45-minute cardio, HIIT, and strength training workout that allows you to move at your own pace through stations as well as work out together as a group. It will challenge you, but also have modifications for every move and fitness level.
  • Karate: Learn the true art and sport of karate from one of the best instructors in East Texas. the goal of this class is to teach the art, sport, and self-defense aspects of martial arts from a karate perspective. Multiple disciplines will also be explored.
