SCHEDULE:

This is a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track position with rank negotiable based on experience. Classes and other responsibilities are conducted primarily on weekdays but may include occasional evening or weekend responsibilities. Attendance is required at typical faculty and administrative meetings including graduation.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

LeTourneau University is seeking an exceptional educator with a strong Christian faith to teach and serve within the Department of Biology and Kinesiology, teaching courses in the areas of environmental sciences, toxicology, life sciences, ecology, and general biology. Research and teaching experience are highly desired.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach a full-time load of undergraduate biology courses in the areas of Environmental Sciences, Ecology, Toxicology, Pharmacology, Life Sciences, Biostatistics/Bioinformatics, Anatomy & Physiology, and other courses in the biology curriculum.
  • Represent the Department of Biology in professional organizations and stay current on graduate admissions and entrance requirements for schools which emphasize study in Biology
  • Teach a range of freshman- to senior-level Biology courses
  • Oversee laboratory instruction conforming to best practices, including those for safety and protection of human health
  • Use and maintain currency with appropriate instructional technology
  • Participate actively in the university learning community by serving on department, school, and/or university committees and special service assignments
  • Participate in student advising, success, and retention programs
  • Maintain a commitment to academic scholarship in the field of expertise
  • Collaborative teaching and research within and outside of the department
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Genuine support of LeTourneau University's Faith Statement and Community Covenant and enthusiasm for integrating faith and learning in the classroom
  • An earned doctorate in the field of life sciences or a closely related field from an accredited university
  • A strong interest and commitment to teaching, research, and advising at the undergraduate level including advising students of pre-health professions
  • A demonstrated ability to relate to students and communicate subject material using contemporary methods
  • The ability to interact effectively and professionally with students, colleagues, and administrators
